CENTRAL EUROPE'S NEW BREWERIES
A guide to new hausbrauereien
(brewpub's) and micro's in Germany, Austria, Czech Republic,
Denmark, Slovenia, and Switzerland.
Halle's latest Hausbrauerei, Hallesches
Brauhaus. It brews an excellent unfiltered Kölsch called Hallsch.
In the last fifteen years there has been
a revolution in brewing in Central Europe. Reacting against the
increasingly bland beers on offer from their country's major
brewers, a whole industry of new breweries have emerged.
Some are micro's, small brewers whose beers are sold in other
people's bar. However the vast majority are brewpubs (in German
Hausbrauerei ), where the beers are brewed and sold in
the bar itself. In many of these the brewery itself is a major
feature of the bar. Most new breweries have concentrated on
brewing quality beers. A lot serve their beers unfiltered, and many
have revived long forgotten local styles and variations.
In this website
I have attempted to list all the currently operating
new brewpubs, and micro's in Germany, Austria, Czech Republic,
Denmark, Slovenia, and Switzerland. I aim to keep the information
as accurate and up to date as possible, so please feel free to
e-mail me (euroscooper AT hotmail.co.uk) with
news, or corrections.
NOTE: Following
repeated spam and virus attacks I have had to change my e-mail address. It
is now euroscooper AT hotmail.co.uk. (replace the "AT" with "@" when e-mailing). If you
have e-mailed me in the last 2-3 months and not got a reply, I'm sorry. I
would be grateful if you could send the information again at my new e-mail
address.
